  • I believe that change... although painful and challenging at times, is the only consistent thing about life. Our ability to acclimate to change is vital, although not easy. My personal belief is that EVERYONE has the innate capacity for change and growth, even through life's toughest curve balls!

I hold a firm belief that the client is the expert, as they have lived and lead their own lives. Paying respect to that, I conceptualize my role as a counselor based on a philosophy that it is crucial the counselor focuses on providing an EMPATHIC & GENUINE foundation for the client and therapist relationship to build upon.

This authentic counseling environment allows clients to grow and connect on a more profound and meaningful level. Connecting and changing negative influences in their lives. As a result of this growth, clients increase their ability to cope through hard times, and develop a better understanding and appreciation of their self, and feelings.

The client determines how quickly we work towards positive change, and I strive to provide a healing and validating presence. I will be authentic and empathic in my interactions with you, and we may even have some fun along the way!

  • The problems we struggle with seek to define and marginalize our identities as humans. The power that various problems seek to have in our lives can leave us feeling lost, helpless, and alone. Counseling can be a great place to begin to separate our identities from our struggles, where the problem does not get to define us as humans. My goal is to join you in this process and support the creation of a new identity, where the problem no longer gets to hold the mirror from which our own reflections are seen.

I specialize in Narrative Therapy in my work as a counselor. This theory is rooted in the belief that people are not defined by the problems they may be struggling with; the person is not the problem, the problem is the problem.

  • Wow. What a couple of years- am I right?

Things are weird, they're hard and uncomfortable at times. You're always adapting and it feels like more is being asked of you each time you feel like you're getting settled. But I'll let you in on a secret- you've got this. It may not feel that way right now, but deep inside you've been given and always held the ability to change. To adapt. To overcome.

If you've read this far and you're thinking you want to know more about the ember that's kindling inside- I'm your gal (or therapist, in this instance).

I approach therapy with human connection and the need to feel heard, and held, as the primary focus. I would love to hear your story, to celebrate your successes and support you through your failures. I want that front row seat to your journey, to help you light that fire, and send you on your way to spread that out into the world.

Doing the work isn't easy, but in the end is SO worth it.

  • My clinical approach is through the lens of relationships. I believe that we are all built as relational creatures and as such, our best selves are found when we feel connected to others in healthy appropriate ways. With this in mind, I want to help my clients repair relationships that already exist or build new ones as they process and change through their time in counseling. I also believe this applies to the relationship between myself as a counselor and my clients. I hope to create a setting in therapy where my clients can come and feel heard, guided, and empowered to increase their ability to handle what life may throw at us. I also believe that often being able to explore significant past relationships can be helpful in bringing awareness to what has shaped us into who we are today

Through my time at the University of Colorado Denver, I have come to a greater understanding of how diverse and unique we all are as humans and I believe that I can work with a variety of clients from individuals to couples to families. I have an emphasis in couples and family therapy, while I have also gained experience working with individuals."

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), I work with all ages and stages. I have worked with children and families for over 20 years, and my greatest joy is found in being a “helper.” Registered Play Therapist (RPT), means that I have a specialty in play therapy. If you decide that I am the right fit for your family, you’ll pretty quickly feel the playful nature of my therapeutic approach. I believe that play keeps us young and helps us to look at life’s problems with fresh eyes. In my office, it’s common for you to find stuffed animals, fidgets, bubbles, and various other cool playthings…

That doesn’t mean I don’t take pain and difficulty seriously. Sitting with people as they process pain is serious work. I will honor your strength and bravery in taking the step to reach out and begin that journey. You know more about the way through the problem than you think you do, and you have more strength to do it than you realize.

  • My greatest passion is coming alongside exhausted parents, especially those encountering challenging kiddos and teens, and instilling hope! I do this in a humble, "been there, made that mistake" way utilizing DDP, TBRI and other trauma-informed research-based approaches to helping families heal. Many of the children and families I assist feel stuck in a negative pattern of conflict, defiance, manipulation and anger. I believe the primary means for change is through playful, accepting, reciprocal connections between caregivers and children. By exploring the barriers to these connections and instilling hope for something different, families can begin to create new pathways for healing and lasting change. As an adoptive parent myself, and mother to five grown children, I see you and I want to understand how to help your family thrive! I work primarily with families and children who have attachment insecurity or display behaviors related to early trauma, anxiety, depression, ASD or ADHD. I also enjoy helping adults who are exploring their own issues that present barriers to being the human they desire to be. I am a person of faith, and can incorporate this into our work if you desire this. I enjoy coaching parents in new ways of understanding themselves and being with their children that promote connection and growth.

I enjoy hanging out with my cat, playing guitar, going to concerts, and hiking around this beautiful state we live in.

I believe issues in our lives arise from a lack of connection to others and to the internal parts within ourselves. Once we strengthen these connections and resolve inner conflict, we are able to reach a state of feeling more integrated and authentic. I will support you as you cultivate acceptance and growth in your life in ways that honor your values, identities, and who you want to be in this world.

You are the expert of yourself and I will honor that in our work together. As a counselor, I view my role as walking next to you while you process the areas of your life that are troubling you. However, every relationship is bound to encounter problems. My understanding of the importance of relationships spurs my passion for working with couples, families, and individuals who are experiencing relational struggles.

Through a systemic lens, I consider how different areas of a client's life both affect and are affected by a presenting issue. I utilize a blend of emotionally focused, experiential, and insight-oriented approaches.

I strive to create a genuine, non-judgmental environment where clients feel deeply understood and safe to show up as their authentic selves. Oftentimes, clients are already equipped with the abilities needed to resolve their issues. Whether it is a relationship with family, friends, romantic partner(s), or yourself; let’s stop the negative cycles in their tracks and create lasting change that will lead to experiences of growth and happiness. I believe that I am not the expert here; you are. You know your experience better than anyone else and I know that together, we will find how to help you grow in the ways that you yearn for.

I enjoy working with individuals, families, couples, and all forms of romantic partnerships. My passion is to work with clients to lessen the impact of minority stress – especially those that identify under the LGBTQIA+ umbrella, non-monogamous folx, and cultural minorities.

I personally think that therapy works most efficiently when it has a solid foundation of honesty, authenticity, and vulnerability. I will happily meet you where you are and together we will find the path you are meant to take, and we will walk along it side-by-side.

When I’m not in the therapy room, I like to fill my time with activities that include music, dancing, animals, friends, nature, family, food, fitness, games, and art.

  • My approach starts from the premise that each of us is precious and our job in life is to unfold our unique potential. Of course, it’s not always so easy! We can lose touch with ourselves as a result of past or present traumas, or simply as a result of never having been seen and heard in the fullness of who we are. So therapy as I understand it involves discovering unknown aspects of ourselves. Some of these discoveries will be welcome: strengths we didn’t know we had. We may also encounter aspects of ourselves we’re less comfortable with. Even these can be exciting and enlivening. Still, it’s helpful to have a supportive companion along the way. That is how I understand my role as your therapist: as a witness and a companion on your journey. Occasionally I might call your attention to a fork in the road or shine a flashlight at something ahead or behind, but the choices and decisions are yours; you are the expert in your own experience.

My primary theoretical orientation is existential-humanistic. I also draw on Gestalt, narrative, and depth approaches, and I have a particular passion for working with dreams.

I strongly advocate for empowerment, joy, and vulnerability in the therapeutic process. I encourage clients to explore their life narratives, recognizing past experiences’ impact on present emotions and behaviors. Joy is seen as a vital element in the pursuit of mental well-being, and I intend to collaborate with clients to identify and incorporate sources of joy into their lives. With a warm and empathetic approach, I am dedicated to supporting couples and families on their journey toward healing, stronger connection, and emotional well-being. My areas of interest are queer couples and families, non-monogamy, and racialized generational trauma.

  • Hi, I’m Sara. In addition to working toward my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, I am a coffee enthusiast (black, no room), bookworm (current fav is Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine), mediocre skier, and mom to a bunch of rambunctious kids.

As a fellow human, I am also no stranger to deep suffering. I strive to hold a warm, calm, validating space for you to explore the difficult stories, systems, and reactions that cause pain.

My therapeutic approach considers the body, mind, emotions, and spirit to work toward wholeheartedness and empowerment. I value creativity and connection as we offer compassion to all parts of ourselves.

You are taking a courageous step in pursuing counseling, and I look forward to meeting you.

  • I believe each person is wholly and wonderfully unique: from strengths, values, and identities to needs, questions, and challenges. These parts of who we are can ebb and flow, grow or evolve with each new chapter of our lives. Sometimes, these changes can be uncomfortable, frightening, or overwhelming. Seeking therapy that supports all that you are, wherever you are in your life story, is powerful. I am honored to share this time with you.

I held many roles before finding my place in counseling: outdoor guide; reading teacher; artist volunteer. Now, I incorporate my favorite qualities of each into my practice. I provide a person-centered approach grounded in an existential, constructivist orientation. I enjoy incorporating strengths-based, narrative, and expressive techniques for clients of all ages. I also offer play therapy for child clients. I am particularly passionate about supporting clients who are navigating grief/loss; religious and/or spiritual exploration or trauma; and major life transitions.

  • I truly believe that we all have the capacity to find more ease and well-being in our lives. I take a mindful approach of paying attention to our own experience. This means paying attention to our own thoughts, bodily sensations, and actions. Often our habit patterns are subconscious, and we find ourselves simply reacting to life. This can sometimes lead us to some difficult places, such as unsettling emotions, isolation, or maybe with shame or self-judgement. With awareness, we can learn to respond to life in a more skillful way. We can learn to be with difficulty with kindness and self-compassion. By loving and accepting ourselves, I truly believe we can show up more fully and grounded in all our external relationships and encounters. I would love to assist you and join you on your journey of healing and self-discovery!

  • It’s important for you to know that I believe you make sense. Maybe your story, body, or mind feels like a mess. That’s okay. I believe you are more than capable of healing. You are resilient. I am so sorry you have had to be so strong.

In our time together, I hope to support you in identifying and untangling things that keep you from living the life you want to live. Whether that’s relationships, disability, trauma, toxic environments, or whatever else, I’m here for it.

As untethered as we can feel in life, I believe your body is on your side. You are so adaptive and resourceful. You have found ways to get through some wild situations. It may have felt impossible, but you have always gotten through the day. I want to honor every part of you that has led you to this point.

Things that make me feel alive are playing with my nephews, wading in creeks and rivers, rock climbing outside, deepening my yoga practice, and getting creative in the kitchen (I can’t seem to follow recipes). I love trying new things and holding space for others to be brave. I am sincerely looking forward to being with you.

  • From the moment that we were born, we were all given a narrative full of expectations, rules and beliefs. And, as we mature we often learn to accept and internalize these beliefs for the sake of love, acceptance, and survival & over time we may learn to abandon parts of ourselves that didn't fit with the script.

Growth, change and coming out of "survival mode" can be awkward,

messy & overwhelming at times, and counseling can help us through these times of uncertainty. Letting go of harmful beliefs & unlearning behaviors that no longer serve us is the path to healing. As we begin on this path I will honor your experience and the expertise of you.

Learning how to meet all of ourselves with kindness & compassion may seem unheard of, but I believe, is the foundation of sustainable growth on the path to fully enjoying this experience of life.

And I'll be alongside you to create a safe place to explore & challenge false stories & limiting beliefs.
